StudentCam encourages middle and high school students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and nation. This year, students were asked to create a 5-7 minute video documentary about the topic, “Your Message to Washington: What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017?” In response, C‑SPAN received 2,903 video submissions from over 5,600 students in 46 states and Washington, D.C. One hundred fifty student and 53 teacher prizes were awarded, totaling $100,000 in prize money. Visit www.studentcam.org to watch all the winning videos, including those from our own Imagine students. Congratulations!

Imagine Chancellor received the following letter from the mother of first grade students Mackenzie:

“I wanted to inform you of a incredible teacher that goes above and beyond! My daughter Mackenzie is in Miss LoPresti first grade class. When Mackenzie started the school year she was so behind in reading. She was tested and was still at a kindergarten reading level of B. Miss LoPresti gave me tips of what to try at home and it worked.

I received her 2nd report card and she went up 6 reading levels in the few months since she was switched into her reading class. Mackenzie loves to read now and takes so much pride in her accomplishment. We owe so much of this accomplishment to Miss LoPresti because of her dedication to her students. I’ve seen the love she has for this job first hand when volunteering in her classroom. The way she is able to connect to each individual student and somehow know their needs is remarkable. As a parent I’m so grateful for the impact she has left on both of my children.” – A Grateful Mom

Inspiring a love of reading is just one of the ways Imagine teachers accelerate the learning of every student.
