Imagine Schools Receives Charter Renewals for Maryland Campuses

Two of Prince George’s County’s most requested charter schools receive charter renewals from the district.


Imagine Leeland and Imagine Andrews, two of Prince George’s County’s most popular charter schools, have received charter renewals from the District.

Imagine Schools is pleased to announce that two popular Maryland campuses have received charter renewals from the district. Imagine Foundations at Leeland Public Charter School and Imagine Andrews Public Charter School have achieved successes in many areas including higher than average scores in reading and math. Both campuses have a strong history of academic performance as measured by the Maryland School Assessment. The renewal of these charters will allow the campuses to continue serving students in a competitive learning environment.

Imagine Andrews Public Charter School opened in August of 2011. They currently enroll 371 students with plans to expand to 7th and 8th grade in the coming years. Imagine Andrews has a waitlist of more than 1,400 students for grades K-7 with 1,760 families having entered the lottery for the 2014-15 school year.

Imagine Andrews’ 2013 reading scores show 90.4% of students scoring at a proficient or advanced level, 13.1% higher than the county average and 5.8% higher than the state average. In math, 2013 results show 89.7% of students proficient or advanced, 21.2% higher than the county average and 10.5% higher than the state average. Imagine Andrews had the 5th highest math scores in Maryland as measured by the Maryland School Assessment.

Imagine Foundations at Leeland Public Charter School opened in August 2007. They currently enroll 473 students in grades K-8. Imagine Leeland is the most requested charter school in Prince George’s County with more than 2,200 families entering the lottery for the 2014-15 school year.

Imagine Leeland’s 2013 reading scores show 90.6% of students scoring at a proficient or advanced level, 13.3% higher than the county average and 6% higher than the state average. In math, 2013 results show 79.2% of students proficient or advanced, 10.7% higher than the county average and equal to the overall state average.
