Lake releases its FCAT scores

“Among Lake County schools’ most impressive accomplishments from the first release of FCAT 2.0 results were reading performances in grades 4-8:

FOURTH GRADE

— Fifteen of 27 elementary schools exceeded or met the state Mean Scale Score of 323 in reading (Grassy Lake, Villages, Seminole Springs, Round Lake Charter, Treadway, Minneola Charter, Astatula, Lost Lake, Groveland, Pine Ridge, Cypress Ridge, Spring Creek Charter, Lake Virtual, Altoona Charter and Imagine Schools at South Lake Charter).

— Significant gains were made by Fruitland Park Elementary (+15), Minneola Charter Elementary (+15), Treadway Elementary (+15), Spring Creek Charter Elementary (+13) and Groveland Elementary (+10).

FIFTH GRADE

— Sixteen of 27 elementary schools exceeded or met the state Mean Scale Score of 310 in reading (Eustis, Grassy Lake, Sorrento, Eustis Heights, Villages, Seminole Springs, Round Lake Charter, Treadway, Minneola Charter, Astatula, Lost Lake, Umatilla, Pine Ridge, Cypress Ridge, Altoona Charter and Imagine Schools at South Lake Charter).

— Significant gains were made by The Villages Elementary (+18), Eustis Heights Elementary (+17), Spring Creek Charter Elementary (+16), Astatula Elementary (+12) and Fruitland Park Elementary (+10).

SIXTH GRADE

— Seven of 14 middle schools exceeded or met the state Mean Scale Score of 315 in reading (East Ridge, Gray, Tavares, Clermont, Windy Hill, Eustis and Imagine Schools at South Lake Charter).

— A significant gain was made by East Ridge Middle School (+7).

SEVENTH GRADE

— Seven of 14 middle schools exceeded or met the state Mean Scale Score of 322 in reading (East Ridge, Gray, Tavares, Clermont, Eustis, Milestones Community Charter School and Imagine Schools at South Lake Charter).

— A significant gain was made by Umatilla Middle School (+6).

EIGHTH GRADE

— Six of 14 middle schools exceeded or met the state Mean Scale Score of 313 in reading (East Ridge, Gray, Clermont, Windy Hill, Eustis and Imagine Schools at South Lake Charter).

— Significant gains were made by Mount Dora Middle School (+11), Carver Middle School (+9) and Gray Middle School (+8).”
