The Indiana Bar Foundation (Foundation) hosted the competition for students to demonstrate their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution after a semester of study in their social studies classes.

“Many adults don’t know the actual content of the Constitution,” said Andrew Homan, program director for the Foundation’s civics programming. “These fifth graders
impress seasoned attorneys and civic leaders with their depth and breadth of knowledge.”

The judges were attorneys and other civic leaders. The curriculum and  preparation for  the showcase teach the students skills in teamwork, critical thinking, public speaking and research as well as history. The showcase featured 12 teams from eight schools.
